Rules of Thumb for Watering Plants Potted in Moss

Here are some "rules of thumb" for watering orchids potted in moss but remember there is no fixed watering schedule and you are the only one who can really judge when your plants need to be watered!

1. One plant potted in a clay pot (not in a China pot): water approximately every 5 to 7 days.
2. Two or more plants potted together in a clay pot (not in a China pot): water approximately every 7 to 10 days.
3. One plant potted in a plastic pot standing alone (not inserted in a China pot or in a decorative basket): water approximately every 7 to 10 days.
4. Two or more plants potted together in a plastic pot standing alone (not inserted in a China pot or in a decorative basket): water approximately every 10 to 14 days.
5. One plant potted in a plastic pot which is itself inserted in a China pot or in a decorative basket: water approximately every 10 to 14 days.
6. Two or more plants potted together in a plastic pot which is itself inserted in a China pot or in a decorative basket: water approximately every 14 to 19 days.
7. One or more plants potted in a glass vase: water sparingly approximately every 3 to 4 weeks. Sparingly means use only 1.5 to 2.0 oz of water per plant in the glass vase. And remember to repot your plant in a plastic or in a clay pot after it has finished blooming. Orchids can not be grown in glass vases!
